Leo Unger - Sahara Sessions
About ten years ago Leo stepped inside the Sahara Studio in The Hague. A few years before he had released a CD called Faces and it was time for a new one.
Right from the start there was a click between us. Leo is a man who dropped by once a month or so to record his newest musical ideas. Through him I met a great variety of musicians he brought along.
Later on I found out that Leo was a well-known figure in the scene of the 60’s and 70’s scene and that he wrote Run tot he Sunshine, a number I knew from my youth.
In my opinion he is one of the most prolific musicians/songwriters I know and over the years I got to know quite a lot. Leo is a person who can produce a perfect logical melody for the ear but not so logical and easy to play for the musicians who came along.
On Leo’s new CD you’ll find jazz, country, rock’n roll - and blues. Blues was his first love and you can find traces of it in nearly every song he wrote: romantic, soft as butter, room temperature.
